Species: Catsect (cat-like creatures with insect's wings, sometimes antennae. may or may not have scales in various areas of the body. They also have crystalized claws that are poisonous to any water-dwelling creature.)
Physical Description: chubby dark-orange cat, on the smaller side of a normal feline. Has very light blue dragonfly-esque wings, with iridescent scales at the base of the wings and around faer neck. White fur on all paws except front left, has blue eyes that sort of shine when caught in moon light. Light pink crystalized claws, and a long orange tail with a purple tip. Sleek fur that sheds a lot, possibly leaving tracks.
Personality: Very social, and kind unless provoked. Depending on the day, either very lazy or very adventurous. Likes to show off wings as they were considered amongst the most beautiful of wings in faer homeworld. Extremely self confident, and can make friends almost instantly. Generous and always willing to help. Fae likes to be with faer friends a lot but needs time to faerself to explore and think faer thoughts.
Homeworld: Lane is from a world where every creature is very similar to faerself. Lots of mammals with insect wings, and their diets supported mainly by the plant life (some of which was actually rather meaty). There are a lot of bright, beautiful plants that look like gemstones and grow jewels, and the ground sparkles with diamonds. Most of the creatures live in houses carved out of the crystal cliff-sides which border the seas, though the seas are almost completely uninhabited, with the exception of a very large deep blue shark with ruby-like eyes. None of the creatures approach the shark, which is why Lane didn't discover that faer claws were fatal to water-dwellers until arriving here and having faer attention caught by a small fish in a stream. Gender is not assigned at birth, and polyamory is a very common practice. There are festivals held often in special circles in the forests which the creatures believe were created by their gods for enjoyment and friendship.
History: Lane was the second of a seven-kittensect litter, born to faer three biological parents (as more than two parents can be biological to their children in faer homeworld). The leader of the household was Rome, who was agender (they/them), and the others were Cata, bigender boy/girl (ey/em), and Jewel, a demiboy (leo/leo/leos/leoself). Two of faer litter mates were playing too close to the sea one day and were caught into the current, soaking their wings, and were unfortunately eaten by the shark. Upon their death, Lane realized that fae and faer litter mates shared a sort of empathy link, in which they could feel each other's presence even from afar. The remaining five kittensects were trained in gardening, food preparation, and the arts. In the world, creatures are considered of age when they are seventeen. However, there is a quest that they all must go on at either the age of fifteen or sixteen, depending on how brave they feel. Lane decided to take faer fifteenth year to help prepare the annual Festival of Crystal, the biggest festival of the entire year, which takes a whole year to plan! Three out of five of faer litter mates decided to take the quest in their fifteenth year, and they all returned triumphant before their sixteenth birthday. Lane and faer litter mate Jones (bigender agender/boy, xie/xem) went out on their quest in their sixteenth year. The quest was to find one of the rarest plants in the land, a purple quartz blooming lily. The tale was that they would face many hardships, including a mist that could potentially rot their wings right off of their body. Lane was about to encounter the shrieking valley when fae was plucked from faer world, and landed in The Rushing Forest, where fae assumed it was simply part of faer task before realizing fae could not feel faer litter mates from a far as fae had before.
