Setting:
In a universe much like ours, there were many deities. They were all equally powerful, and fought for control over various aspects of their universe. Eventually, one deity caused far more trouble than the other.
This deity enjoyed warping core aspects of the universe. It would destroy galaxies willy-nilly, changing fundamental laws and bringing about things that should not have existed. The other deities forged a temporary alliance against this rogue deity, and cast it out of their universe.
The rogue deity wandered, and eventually found the beginnings of a new universe, free of any other occupants. It settled in, ready to wreak havoc in peace. But after being removed from its origin, this deity was much weaker. It could not warp cosmos and shatter planes of existence with a flick of an ethereal limb. Infuriated, this deity struggled to exert as much control as it could. Eventually, it formed a planet and locked itself away in the depths of it. Around it, for many eons, the landscape shaped on its own.
Eventually, the deity grew bored of sulking. It decided to play a trick on the other worlds it knew existed. It began plucking creatures from other places and times, even creatures from its own universe's future. It left them to scramble about the planet it inhabited, delighted by their bizarre appearances and actions. To this day, it sits deep underground, plucking beings and objects from other worlds as it chooses.
The plucked beings are given no guidance or assistance. They are left to build their own world largely free of the deity's tampering, for now.

Relevant Information:
- The Portal is written so that you may create any kind of character you wish. As long as it is your original creation, you may make it.
- For the convenience of inter-character interaction, all beings are able to understand each other in the Portal.
- You may give your character any kinds of special powers or characteristics, as long as you can explain their presence.
- You may not create characters with godlike abilities. You may create powerful creatures that have had their powers decreased, or lost them, for whatever reason you wish.
- All characters enter the universe of the Portal by being plucked from another world. Characters may sustain some amount of physical injury when being plucked, but it is up to the creator.
- The rogue deity can be interacted with in-character by going to the World Center in-character forum, but the character in question may or may not be interesting enough to the deity to merit a response.
- When plucked, characters may come over with any objects they had on their person when they were brought to the Portal. Objects around them may be brought over by accident on the deity's part.
- There are no distinct seasons within the Portal. Weather happens at random, within the general ranges of a given area.
- When characters are "plucked," they may re-manifest in any area of the Portal.
- When you first begin playing your character, you may write them as having been present within the Portal's universe for up to four months.
